Project For: Chloe Mager Design

The client was in the process of extending and refurbishing the basement of their property when they came to me for help. The client had a clear idea of how they wanted to use the space but was unsure of how to unite each of the living areas to create a cohesive and comfortable interior for their young family. The extension had created a dramatic, long structure with very high ceilings and lots of natural light. Through careful space planning and a colour palette which flowed from the kitchen at one end to the snug at the other, I designed a scheme that connected comfortably whilst allowing the family to interact or relax independently and also entertain impressively. The bold navy of the kitchen cabinets was reflected further down the space where the dark tone wrapped around walls and ceiling to create a cosy snug and perfectly frame the foliage of the landscaped terrace. I accented with the client's favourite colour yellow, contrasting with the deep blue and lifting the warm grey walls. A bespoke slatted timber TV unit was designed to line the main lounge wall, continuing on to form the dining area bench seating and log burner plinth, creating a strong structural link between the areas.
